Shannon brings a diverse work experience of creative problem solving, organization, and administration to the Blue Juniata Boat Company team.
Trained predominantly in classical, jazz, and musical theater, Shannon is committed to building solid foundations, creating an organized process for moving forward and has an eye for details. Shannon taught in the public schools for 10 years, mostly at the Lehman Alternative Community School (LACS) in Ithaca, NY. LACS is a small, democratically run grade 6-12 grade school, part of the Coalition of Essential Schools. Some of the highlights of her time there include running a guitar building workshop for middle schoolers, directing the All Beatles Orchestra, and camping during “Trips Week” at Assateague State Park.
Shannon moved on from teaching to work in administration and communications for nonprofits. She handles the administrative side of life while assisting clients with questions regarding billing and orders. She is excited to do more hands on work and to keep building corracles.
Shannon has a love of outdoors, exploration and adventure. She lives in the quiet mountains of Pennsylvania with her husband, son & dog. Shannon also has a background in small scale, sustainable farming of pasture based animals. Someday, down the road, she’ll get back to farming. She holds degrees in Music from Ithaca College and from Syracuse University.
